Rare Die Varieties in Pocket Change?

Do you realize what could be in your pocket change?

Clashed-Dies, filled dies, capped-dies and even strongly Rotated-Dies. Broadstruck ”railroad rims”, Clipped-planchets, sintered planchets and even Blank planchets can all be found in circulation and sold for a generous profit. These are ERROR coins that are easy to see with the naked eye and are quite frequently passed up by the general public as damaged coins that they might think isn’t even worth face value. Off-center strikes, double-struck, and stuck-through errors are also out there!

If you have a magnifier, the possibilities are quite endless.

Many doubled dies are out there that are worth much much more than face value. 1984 ”doubled-ear” Lincoln Cents have been found and sell for around $100. Other good ‘pocket change’ doubled dies to look for include 1964, 1971, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, and 1997.

There are many books available on errors/varieties. With a little knowledge and a good magnifier, the fun is endless and the profits are a bonus!
